Employer Guidebook

On this page you will find electronic copies of the content of the VCCI Employers’ Guidebook. The Guidebook is arranged into 6 chapters. Chapter 1 provides introductory material and a glossary. Chapters 2 – 5 contain:

  • an Overview, which sets out the topic and summarises the main areas
  • a series of Factsheets, which give more detail on specific areas and provide some examples of situations employers may come across
  • Tools, which can be used and adapted by employers to manage their responsibilities towards employees.

Click on the links below to access material in each section. If you would like a hard-copy of the Guidebook you can download and print your own copy. Copies are also available for purchase from the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry for a low fee, to cover the costs of printing.

This Guidebook will help employers to become more familiar with Vanuatu’s employment laws, and will help employers to adjust their employment practices so that they act in accordance with the law. If you have specific employment questions staff of the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry are available to help you use the Guidebook to answer them. The Guidebook is not intended to replace legal advice or provide legal support in the case of litigation between employers, employees and authorities.

As the law changes each Overview and Factsheet is published with an update date to let you know how current the information is. We will continue to update the Employers’ Guidebook as the law changes.

We will also be keeping this page up-to-date with a list of frequently asked questions so if you cannot find your an answer to your question in the Guidebook please contact the VCCI with your question and we will add it to the FAQs.
